Full Swing review - Episode 1

Alright everyone...I know there is other news in the world of golf...my recap of the WM Phoenix Open will come tomorrow. First - I watched the first episode of Full Swing and thought I'd give my feedback/review.

To start off, it was a great episode and starting with Justin Thomas and Jordan Spieth was a super smart thing. If you're a casual fan of golf, you know who JT and Jordan are. Seeing the old photos and videos of them, in high school and college, was great to see. It was also great to here them talk about their friendship (Jordan was JT's best man in his wedding) and their rivalry.

This episode was set around the time of the RBC Heritage event in mid-April and the PGA Championship in mid-May. They show how Jordon won the RBC and JT did not have a great tournament. They then show JT hitting the gym (the gym has banners of all the PGA players that have won tournaments) and JT mentions that it's been awhile since he had a banner put up in the gym.

We then head to the prep for the PGA Championship with JT and Jordan out for a "friendly" round of golf, betting a couple hundred bucks on making a birdie, closest to the pin and whoever wins - Jordan took it from JT.

The PGA Championships starts and JT is at the top of the leaderboard after the first two rounds...and then his allergies get the better of him and has a rough third round to drop seven shots back of the leader. Netflix did a great job following the final day and giving us a behind the scenes look at JT as Mito Pereira walks up to 18...then hits his tee shot into the water. Someone on the side is giving JT updates as Mito plays 18 and sets up the playoff between JT and Will Zalatoris.

We all know that JT walks away with the PGA Championship (his second major to Jordan's three major wins), and the episode ends with someone behind the camera asking JT something along the lines of, "Would you rather beat your friends or win the tournament?" JT responds, "I'd rather win the tournament because then I still beat my friends."

All-in-all, this was a great opening episode for this show and it was really cool to see the behind the scenes of golf tournaments and hearing the golfers thoughts on how they played in a tournament, how their game is trending and a little bit of the training that goes in to being a pro-golfer.

Looking forward to watching the rest when it hits Netflix tomorrow!
