My #7 moment of 2022 is another major with Justin Thomas winning the PGA Championship…famously saying, "I’ve never won a tournament before shanking a ball on Sunday." And boy, did he shank it. His next shot - hit a tree and bounced in a bunker…on a different hole. His next wedge shot was brilliant and would go on to make "the best bogey" of his career.
When we thought the PGA Championship would be between Mito Pereira and Will Zalatoris - Mito would hit his drive on 18 into the water and was out of contention - JT storms back with 5 birdies on his last 10 holes to enter a playoff with Will Zalatoris.
Both JT and Zalatoris would birdie the first playoff hole, JT would birdie the second playoff hole (driving the green on the par 4 with a 3-wood (while Will settled for par) and the JT would par the third playoff hole to bring home his second PGA Championship.
What a final round for JT…and for us to watch.
