My #9 moment of 2022 is The Presidents Cup. It has always been pretty lopsided for the US, with the US winning 12 of 14 Cups. This year wasn't much different, but it was pretty entertaining to watch (remember Tom Kim????).
The International captain, Trevor Immelman, call the US team the greatest ever assembled and he probably isn't far off. JT, Jordan Spieth, Xander Schauffele, Scottie Sheffler and PLENTY more are some of the top golfers in the world. Did the International Team stand a chance? Probably not, but they gave it a heck a run.
Tom Kim - his real name is Joohyung Kim, but prefers Tom due to his fondness of Thomas the Tank Engine when he was a kid - he was frequently called the heartbeat of the International team. He brought the energy, the showmanship, and a Tiger-esque celebratory moment, dropping his club and throwing his hat on the green after winning a HUGE point for the International team.
The US did win 17.5-12.5, but it really does feel like the International team is close to taken down the US…despite losing some potential players to LIV.
